Re: Leica microscope head compatibility

Hi everyone, I have a Leica DM750 with a binocular head (infinity). I would like to ask how compatible the heads are, within the infinity system? How do I know if a trinocular head is compatible with the DM750? This one for example: https://www.ebay.fr/itm/403987592774 Thank you very much! It proba...

Re: Brand new to microscopy

Congratulations on your purchase :D

I took one similar microscope apart and liked the simplicity of the focusing system very much. Very straightforward to disassemble (and more importantly, assemble)

Still have a spare 0.9 condenser if you ever need one..

Enjoy

I had a 60x dry (no cover slip) and didn't like it so I sold it. Now I kinda regret it though.

Before getting a trinocular head, I have attached mine with a telescope t2 adapter over the eyepiece. It worked ok, looking to the screen to navigate, not the other eyepiece

Hey guys I just purchased a swift SW380T from amazon for roughly $389(its on the way). I have been simultaneously speaking to a microscope specialty store near me that has a zeiss research microscope that he will sell me for $650. I'm still waiting to find out what model exactly but the gentleman t...

Fantasy microscope trade

I find it amusing to look at some ads of stuff I don't need and won't buy, but are interesting, so maybe if someone shares similar amusement we could have a thread for that kind of a situation, I find it redundant to open new threads :) There was a similar idea some time ago, but I can't find it... ...

Re: Is this fungus?

I'd need to remove the black paint to touch it, I think that would do more harm by itself. You're the second person here saying it does not seem to be fungus, which is great. I left it sunbathing on the window for 2 days, so that would probably kill it if it was fungus ... I'll see if it spreads in ...

Re: Is this fungus?

Could it be adhesive? It could be, it is the usual culprit as the sponge melts in these cameras. It looks fungus to me. Me too, but I'm hoping someone will tell me it's not (like Bram did :D ) It doesn't bother me to look through it in the viewfinder. I'm just a bit paranoid about keeping it in my ...

Is this fungus?

Hi, this is a prism from an Olympus om2 camera. I'm not sure if this is fungus. It sure looks like it is :D The usual culprit of prism damage on this model of camera is the foam degradation. It melts and gets inside in time. There is no more fungus elsewhere on the camera, so I'd like your opinion.....

Planktonic gastropods in DF

Little marine biologist found some more gastropods (again), he was quite happy with the find as he claims some of these like the 'Heliconoides inflatus' should be found in the deeper waters only, or mostly. So he was lucky to stumble on a plankton 'swarm' in the shallow water near our house. I think...

You may have noticed them already... I didn't notice, mine has entering rings too, thanks for the tip Chas. What microscope are you using your condenser with? Mine is smaller than yours 29mm threaded inner condenser tube and 36mm the inner ring also threaded. I just did some experiments, the DF is ...

Congratulations, it looks in excellent condition.
If you put a stop into one of the condenser holes you'll have darkfield, or maybe one of the phase annulus might work as a stop, until you find a DF condenser.

I couldn't resist buying this, it was on an auction so... apochronaut you once mentioned a toric condenser, this might be similar? I'll try to adopt it on BHS. Re: Help with decision on Leitz Orthoplan

In my experience too, PH objectives on brightfield aren't good, the resolution diminishes quite a lot. From my perspective the price seems a bit high considering there are only 2 objectives on the microscope, not sure if you need relay lens in the trino port, if yes then see if it is included. But i...

Looks like the control console for a 1970's era transmission electron microscope. It is unbelievable what one can find on the local cl...

That is very clever to use eyepieces for the focusing lenses, and it looks like it worked great! Focusing lenses are definitely nice to have, IMO.

I don't know, but can only guess in the absence of other answers. Maybe if you remove the top lens and switch to one with lower NA (or use without) these would match with something at lower mag. This may or may not make sense. I have a similar condenser with flip top lens (with empty 1,2,3) but unab...

Please, are those lamps halogen or LED ? what wattage ?
The 15V 150W halogen lamp is in the housing and optic fibers lead the light through the goosenecks.

Yes for sure, I have used Wild 10x eyepieces as collimating optics for light sources before, and they seem very good for the job.
Thanks
