The little thing probably didn't even know it was being eaten. It's just a machine.

She goes for the 100X which I think she pre focused with a lower objective but she could have said that.

Harry, For an experiment if you have a Harbor Freight Tools store near you they have several LED lights priced VERY inexpensive. Maybe just a temp fix or whatever. https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=%21AL%5FYfF112TzZS9Y&cid=55153FC6AC252667&id=55153FC6AC252667%2110150&parId=55153FC6AC252667%219902&o...

Re: King's tricks

Thanks again Bruce, Here the real "show" would have been if that debris wasn't at the end and "Kingy" ate that long bacteria ! There were other ones in that water sample, a few big ones also, but they were movers instead of grazers. I know the place at Strawbridge Lake and will try in Spring to see ...

Re: Foraging rotifer

microplan, Find something else to do. My water sample jar has a ton of water fleas swimming around fast and if you put a cover slip on the slide usually they will be pinned down. This is okay for a few to see them good but rotifers and water fleas do get boring when you want to see new things. Sprin...

Re: King's tricks

Javier- I think "King" was just doing tricks not eating. He stretched himself way out and when he couldn't stretch anymore he had to push that sediment down further to do so. I am not sure though if he was tasting it cause my book says they can eat cyanobacteria. (Protozoological Monographs Vol. 3, ...

Javier,

Very good look you have with that scope.
When I get Stentors they are the Stentor roeselii
(as was my beloved "Stretch.")
I see yours is a fine size by comparing the Paramecium.

https://cosmosmagazine.com/science/biology/ten-tiny-but-terrifying-micro-monsters/ The other day I gave myself a crew cut hair cut and looked at some hairs. https://www.ebay.com/itm/195552826801 I dropped the price to 250 dollars. Charlie, You are correct at least in my finding- I bought a AmScope 2X objective for half price sale which I think was still about 20 bucks. I couldn't seem to center the Nikon scope's condenser to not get a corner darker. And as you said less sharp quality. Now also I have a Stereoscope microscope ...
