Re: Brand New Amscope Phase Contrast Kit

I love the photo of the Vorticella with its coiled stalk, showing the myoneme contractile fibril in exquisite detail. Bravo! Thanks. That blew me away when I saw it lol. I have seen tons of vorticella in BF but never seen that coiled before. I made a comparison plate for the cheek cell images using...

I am interested to know how the affordable Amscope set compares with Olympus; the condenser alone is an o...

Re: Brand New Amscope Phase Contrast Kit

Thanks for sharing the images, I've always wondered how well AmScope's phase kits perform. What camera setup did you use for these shots? I use a canon t6. With the Amscope adapter. Manual setting just so I can control brightness. Hi Red_Green.I’m a confirmed phase junkie and have wondered about th...

Brand New Amscope Phase Contrast Kit

Just got this today, eh. For my Amscope T490B. Thought I would share. Seems to be a very good kit. Although I need some more time and practice with it to really get an experienced opinion on it. So far I very impressed with the objectives. I ordered a plan 60x to go with it and the plan and plan pha...

Re: Can I have some help identifying this?

Dang... For 500$ this microscope is pretty good. Never though I could get such resolution for 500$ It's a T490A The t490 is an excellent scope. In the Amscope lineup it is a best seller. Excellent resolution at a good price. Halogen or led? I was skeptical and surprised too. I bought the T490B. In ...

It's a great photo. I'm leaning toward ciliate but I'm not certain either. What scope did you use? Greg Thanks. Amscope t490. The photo and most of the video is from the standard anchro objectives it came with at 60x with a canon t6 and amscope dslr adapter. As I noted on iNaturalist, it's a sessil...

Feel fortunate my friend. The state of Oregon has a covid tax bill waiting in The back room.
Seriously though?

That's almost as asinine as the "carbon tax" here in Canada. We all know it the taxes and fees go to the Politicians pockets.

Re: Hi I am new but have microscope problems already

Be careful with WHAT you clean WITH. Coatings on Amscope lenses come of immediately when using a solvent such as alcohol. Greg I have cleaned my Amscope lens with 99% alcohol and lens cleaner numerous times and the coatings have not come off nor has anything bad happened. Amscope is built pretty we...

Re: Hi I am new but have microscope problems already

I would use a hand pump air blower. Like what they use for DSLR cameras.

If that didn't get it all out then I would very carefully use lens cleaner and a swab. Sometimes the swab can cause more problems though.

Iuse amscope. There fine. After awhile though after several cleanings they start to appear hazy or whatever. I clean them in alcohol.

When it comes to the phase contrast I would only get the turret version. Unfortunately, I am in Canada. Understood. I looked on ebay for a 60x phase objective and all I could find was used Olympus 60x phase and that was like $1,600 (ish). So that won't be happening in this life time for me lol. A 4x phase was around $500 - $600. So I didn't really see it as being worth it. I reckon I could just get th...

Re: New member with an old question

My advice, is don't listen to the people bashing on the Amscope. Amscope makes amazing microscopes and I would highly recommended them. Especially the T490. The only reason people bash on them is simply because Amscope isn't the "big 4". Kind of like with guitars. If it isn't a Gibson Les Paul or a ...
