Re: Another AO Cycloptic question.

Thank you. I took it all apart, but I still can't separate there brass dovetail from the focusing unit. Am I supposed to turn those set screws on the brass part somehow? Thanks again.

Another AO Cycloptic question.

Hi. It seems like this should be obvious, but how do you detach there Cycloptic scope from its stand? I assume you dial up the focus to the end and somehow it detaches but I don't know how to get past the "set" limit, is there a screw to remove or a trick? I want to put the head from the "normal" st...

AO Cycloptic Magni-Changer Lubrication?

Hi all. My AO Cycloptic works great but rotation of the Magni-Changer feels a bit rough part of the way. The indent works properly.

Should I leave well enough alone or is it easy to remove the dial covers and insert a tiny bit of lube?

Thank you!

Re: How do the newer AO stereo zoom scopes compare to the classic Cycloptic?

Wow, thanks to you both for the great info! It makes appreciate my low cost and flexible Cycloptic system even more. I already purchased the 2/3 and 2X aux lenses and AO 15X WF (#147) eyepieces. So far I prefer the standard 10X eyepieces, perhaps because of the wider FOV? I looked and didn't find an...

How do the newer AO stereo zoom scopes compare to the classic Cycloptic?

Hi. Does anyone know, other than the continuous zoom capability on the newer AO stereo scopes (e.g., model 580X), how does image quality compare? I have a Cycloptic and am enjoying it. I see many newer AO continuous zoom scopes on ebay and was wondering... I think I know that the Model 40s are less ...

Re: Bought Some Condenser Stops on Ebay

thanks for this post. i want to experiment with my AO model 110 which has the 1087 condenser. I'm assuming I put the filter in the slot in the bottom of the condenser. Does anyone know what diameter best fits the 1087? Thanks!

Greetings from eastern Long Island!

Hi all, what a nice site! I'm a retired geologist (didn't use microscope much since undergrad) who had some extra time this winter after taking care of 2 Norwegian Elkhounds, 2 african cichlid tanks, cleaning the house and exercising. I saw a microscope video on utube and decided to investigate furt...

Blue filter removal on my American Optical AO One -Ten microscope?

Hi all, I just purchased a very nice AO 110 microscope and am still setting / cleaning it up. There seems to be a blue filter sitting on the Illuminator Window Assembly and there is some dust, etc between it and the underlying glass filter. Is this blue filter meant to pop out? If so, it seems stuck...

My question is, for a newbie, what do you recommend tor beginning photography? I have an iPhone x and a sony s95 poi...
