Re: Some shots from Rochelle salt medium.

No just mixed on a slide and air dried. It's becoming quite absorbing ( for me at least :) ) trying out different chemicals and seeing how the crystals grow.

Much easier to stick with Toupview methinks 😉. Shame as it wasn't too bad software! I'll watch for any dodgy emails coming now!

Re: Altami studio price anyone?

Yes I have Toupview and that also works fine but I find the image just that bit clearer and steadier in Altami !. Not sure if it's a driver thing or not. Not a great deal of difference between the two but if it was a silly price for Altami I'd happily carry on with Toupview.

Altami studio price anyone?

Hi guys I`ve been using using Altami studio after someone on here recommended it for my little 5 meg usb camera and it really works a treat. The demo version only allows 15 mins of use before closing down and then it needs reopening. I`ve tried emailing the Altami guys asking how much the software i...

Hot plate?

Hi guys I’m interested in what you guys use for a hot plate. At the moment I’m growing crystals and taking images of them by drying out chemicals on a slide over a small candle tealite but I’m sure something better can be used. I was thinking of making one from a silicone heater pad and a digital th...

Re: ToupView crashing after recording video

Hi guys
I've started using S-EYE software for my little Toupcam and works great, no problems at all. I had a problem with Toupview where the image kept flickering.
S-EYE worth a try can't remember which version I have (I'm away from home at the moment) but just Google it!.

Re: Not enough light for Rheinberg filters

For Rheinberg filters I read that you have both field lens iris and condenser iris fully open or you can cut off the part that colours the specimen. Is the centre disc (the part that colours the background) too big or off centre?

Re: Not enough light for Rheinberg filters

I'm not familiar with the Orthoplan as I have a Laborlux S but I had to convert my scope to LED to save my desk from the mini supernova Halogen lamp!. Heat no longer a problem now. Not sure how you could use any heat absorbing filter without jeopardizing the scope :?:

Re: Printing Rheinberg filters!

I printed a few of these off with centre discs from 8mm to 15mm diameter and the 10mm seemed the best for my condenser and seems ok for x4 and x10 lenses. The location of the centre disc is important too as I initially was about 5mm off centre. Another problem I found was the colours were not intens...

Printing Rheinberg filters!

Hi guys After many wasted efforts because I had the ‘background’ circle off center under the condenser it seems it’s fairly straightforward to print these filters off when you get the correct dimensions and printer settings. It appears any background/specimen colour combination could be made this wa...

Hi guys
Not sure if anyone has tried this but I wondered if its possible to print out filters maybe on Acetate sheets?.
I don't have any Acetate at the moment so can't try it but I had a quick design of some Rheinberg or Darkfield ?
