Images from LabCam and LabCam Pro

Attached are several images form the LabCam IPhone adapter. Compare image 6

LabCam and LabCam Pro IPhone adapter

In my endless quest to find an inexpensive device to take microphotographs, I came across the LabCam. Before that, I was using my Nikon D5500 24 MP, attached to a C-Mount adapter (either a 0.5x or 1.0x). I was never satisfied with the image quality. I then tried a microscope camera (Excelis 600D) wi...

Need help to identify a filter

Can anyone identify this filter ? When you look at it at an angle, the surface (front and back) is shiny like a mirror. When you look at it directly, it is a blue,or light-blue/purple hue). I use it in my microscope and prefer it to a regular blue filter.

My microscopes

I have three microscopes that I use most of the time. One is a Bristoline (a later model with a frame that looks like the same frame style as my Olympus CH2 and BH2 of 20 to 30 years ago but it has the short objectives of earlier time (circa the 1960's). I also have a CH2 with four objectives and a ...

Re: My little Olympus BH-2 BHT

Impressive setup. I have an Olympus BH2 with the trinoc head. Can you post sample images from low to high magnification (4x to 40x) to see image quality? I am having a lot of trouble figuring out why my images are not good.

Choosing the correct camera for Microscope photography

I just watched an inetersting video by our moderator, Oliver, on calculating the size (in Megapixels) for a camera requirement for micro-photography.The video was informative in one way but lacking in another. I still don't know what size camera to get for my microscope. When I first decided to take...

Removing bubbles from whole insect slide preparation

I've been plagued with bubbles in my slide preoarations of insect whole mounts. It always happens when I seem to have prepared an excellent slide. Invariably, the specimin will have bubbles that spoil the overall appearance. Although in most cases the bubbles do not interfere with what I am trying t...

Olympus image of the year competition

I was stunned by the image quality of the images submitted. I have an Olympus microscope and was wondering how these photographers were able to obtain such amazing clarity in their images. Is there anyway to find out what equipment these microscopists used ? I have tried many different ways to obtai...

Re: Whole Mount Insect Slide Preparation Part 2

All: Actually it was not Darousha that posted the presentation (Part 2) but myself. Perhaps Darousha has already posted a presentation on insect mounting that I missed. I was only aware of one method to properly prepare insects for whole mounting but I am always open to other methods. I am particula...

Whole Mount Insect Slide Preparation Part 2

It took me longer than I expected, but I prepared the second of two videos on how to prepare whole slide mounts of insects. Not as well organised as the first one, but I hope it is informative.

Whole Mount Insect Slide Preparation

Since my interest in microscopy is mostly with insect morphology, I have worked to try and come up with a good method to prepare whole insects for slide preparation. I recently created a 10 minute video (part 1 of 2), the second part to follow shortly. I hope it may be of interest to my fellow micro...

Rant: Why it is difficult to buy a microscope - by webiste moderator

Hello fellow microbehunters: I recently watched the Youtube video "Rant: Why it is difficult to buy a microscope", by the Microbehunter moderator. I was very impressed with his comments and have to agree that the marketing of microscopes today has reached a rather low level. I was looking to buy a r...

Microphotographs

Florida is over run by fire ants of all sizes. A ant hill or mound can have millions of fire ants, all ready to sting anything that bothers them. Thousands of ants move about carrying baby ants in their jaws.

Re: Focus Stacking software

Can anyone recommend a simple, uncomplicated, focus stacking software that I can use. I use my digital camera through the trinocular tube. I could take any number of images (twenty, thirty, forty) if necessary and transfer them to my computer with the stacking software. Any help will be much appreci...

Re: What Microscope do I use.

I will not deny that the 100x oil immersion yields a more superior image but I find the need for 1000x magnification very few times. As well as my Olympus CH2, I have a much older Bristoline (with the short objectives). The image quality of the Bristoline is every bit as good as the Olympus. Recentl...

An Interesting discovery

I have a Bristoline binocular and an Olympus CH binocular. By accident I discovered that the binocular heads are perfectly interchangeable between the Bristoline and the four objective Olympus CH. I was able to use the Bristoline with the Olympus head to take photographs. I went onto EBay and bought...

What Microscope do I use.

I used to have a very nice American Optical / Bausch and Lomb microscope which I left behind when I moved to Florida. Now that I am back into my microscope interest I got a very nice used Bristoline. I would have never bought this microscope based on the name but it turns out to be an excellent opti...

Greetings from Florida

I am new to this web site Forum but have been following MicrobeHunter's Youtube Video posts very carefully. They are very informative. My interest in microscopes goes back many years, back to 1961 when I bought my first decent microscope from Lafayette Radio in Newark, New Jersey. Even by today's st...
