Re: Yet another Japanese microscope company.
Strangely enough … I recognised the name, from an enquiry that I made in 2021 They were offering an interesting USB 3 camera at the time [before most others had made that leap] … it came to nothing, because of shipping arrangements, but I remember them being helpful and courteous. I have a Nikon item which appears to be one of these: https://www.ebay.com/p/3037734298 https://www.ebay.com/itm/275027711597 Unfortunately, I have no idea what it is intended to fit … and strangely, although the lower lens element works as a very nice ‘magnifying glass’ … I haven’t found any settin...

Re: How can I clean a concave lens?
.
In principle, the radius of curvature of your cleaning tool needs to be equal to, or less than, the curvature of the lens surface.
… In practice, this is getting worryingly close to being “a pointy thing” … so the answer is with great care and considerable finesse.

Thanks … I accept all the opinions
My point [badly made] was that there is a “Zeiss” microscope for which cheaper compatible Chinese objectives might be available.

This is relavent to Chinese infinity microscopes only. […] I have not seen a Zeiss knockoff system from China […] That said … am I not right in believing that the affordable range of Zeiss microscopes is made by Motic ?? MichaelG. . … I just tried again to use the "short barrel" lens, but the SW380B only goes down so far, and I can't get anything except as shown in the photo. Strange, right? … . Just for the sake of curiosity … try putting a slide on a couple of spacers about 10mm high [stacks of coins would do] and then see i...

@MichaelG: I understand some of what you're saying, but what numbers do I multiply to find out the active area vs the physical chip size? If Sensor size: 8.365mm(H)x6.615mm (V), what do I need to look at to compute active area? I'm a bit lost here... But thank you for your feedback! I'm learning a ...

I have no personal experience of the HAYEAR cameras, but that specification is remarkable both for its resolution and frame-rate. … both very impressive. One thing I would mention though is the chip size Do the maths and you will see that the active area is significantly smaller than the physical si...

I was rather surprised to find this “admission” by Leitz, and would welcome comments from the wise:
… perhaps the original German expresses it a little differently [?]
