Re: HID colors
Thank you, Im still trying to figure out how to efficiently remove the glass cover , the dremel approach wasn't as clean as expected. With a pair of bulbs under $10 on ebay Im going to try and experiment with different temperatures, although ultimately it'll depend on which filter configuration I'm ...

HID colors
I need help understanding the difference in HID colors,.. Im currently using a 5K Xenon HID bulb for reflected applications, mostly Autofluorescence, however Im going to start experimenting with different dyes,.Is using a 2k more beneficial that using a 5k for example? And is the Nm wavelength affec...

Re: Honda parts on a Laborlux
To add, on the safety goggles - the ANSI spec doesn't require UV filtering. If present, it does provide a "U" scale that ranges up to "6" with that being the best protection. On IR filtering, my spectrometer doesn't go very far into the infrared and I haven't been able to test cheap Chinese filters...

Re: Honda parts on a Laborlux
Clever title. Is that a Xenon emission lamp up top? If so, it will be going a bit deeper into UV. Nice for some fluorescence work. Probably worthy of adding a bit of barrier protection for the eyes. Do like the idea. Down below, not sure the internal location has enough cooling for a 100 watt tungs...

Honda parts on a Laborlux
Hi y'all just wanted to share this overkill of a lighting modification to my Laborlux 12. This unit was purchased with no power supply or any type of lighting for that matter, I considered the retro-diode option but for me that was just too easy and wanted the hands on. Here's Stage 1 Thanks to the ...

Laborlux 12 and 170mm
Silly question, but is the Laborlux 12 the last Leitz that was able to work with 170&160mm objectives?
Also are all PHACO objectives dual purpose, that is Phase and Florescence or are those two separate?
I've seen some PHACO 10,40 and a PHACO FL 70 oel all 170mm.

Thank you all for the help, purchased a lamp holder, had to cut excess heat shielding so it would fit and install spacers to maintain the 67.7mm bulb insertion. The two prong airplane style connector worked perfectly.

Reflective set up procedure
Can anyone explain the way to set up reflective lighting on a Laborlux K using a tungsten bulb?
There is a small window in front of the microscope but not quite sure how to use it..
Also do I need a condenser for reflective light? Or just place a dark background under the slide?

Anyone know where a replacement can be found for the leaf spring seen in the base of of the zoom.?
It doesn't affect the performance , but I gotten used to the clicking sound made when the zoom was locked into place.

Hi y'all, Im looking to up the power on a polarizing unit that has a 6v 20watt halogen. Specially dimming it, and will I see an increase on the intensity compare...

Re: Leitz pin connector?
There seems to be a round-shape component on the bottom of the case with some capacitors. Could be a rectifier, but can't be sure. The cables go to the front panel. What might it be? TRIAC dimming circuit on the primary side? I can't see the primary wires from the transformer in the photo, too low ...

Re: Leitz pin connector?
I ended up going with this ones, not sure if it'll be enough for the current., But they were the right diameter so no modification to the box was needed. The two cable going towards the front are the power/dimmer dial and the others go towards a gauge 0-14v I considered just purchasing a jones cinch...

Re: How to package a microscope!?
Another one arrived damaged., It looks like the Eyepiece tubes always take the most damage, mainly because of the box being too small at times. This time I was able to align the tubes since it's an old style head with 4 screws around each tube; unlike a previous one where the tubes are the screw in ...

A recent acquisition came with two PHACO objectives, they are 170mm and the scope they came on is a Laborlux K. Aside from reading online that PHACO was Leitz on branding for Phase contrast, I haven't been able to find a lot of info on them. Like.....what scope were they designed for? Which condense...

Trachelius ovum, another first for me. I found it odd that this ciliate was always found hanging around a vorticella colony, as if it was feeding on them. Hi, the sample was obtained from the shores of a small pond at a park in Georgia, USA. The area was shaded and judging by the other microbes found, the water was not of the cleanest quality.ImperatorRex wrote: ↑Sat Jul 03, 2021 11:44 amAlso congrat's from my side.
