Re: Looking for a Stereo Microscope to view pixels on phones
Already th DSLR alone with a 1:1 macro objective resolves the pixels well.
Not visual though. well you could look in the viewfinder, or live view.

Re: New user: photomicroscopy - Leitz laborlux D - photographic catalog of insect parts
Maybe; the leitz periplan was supposed to correct color, astigmatism and curvature; but since you're stacking the latter two are not so important. The image looks good to me... would some more hint of the internals be interesting (vessels, muscles)? And maybe some homemade darkfield, lateral or COL ...

Re: New user: photomicroscopy - Leitz laborlux D - photographic catalog of insect parts
Guess then that you have to try also c), afocal over the Periplan 10x; Need to mount a standard lens on the camera, like 30 or 50mm for your m4/3, and it looks into the periplan. I have an older Leitz and that's the only way it collaborates. More glass, but also better resolution! To know you're doi...

Camera mount, no true experience here, maybe the screw is 39mm?
1/3 x sounds ideal to go from an old narrow field of like 15mm to to a full frame camera

Re: objective delamination.
I have one objective (Wild Fluotar 50x) that delaminated in the center; but then some days it glues back; the day after, delaminated again. I've observed it for a while, and it seems in sync with the phases of the Moon. Edit- some more guesses: Against the theory that light exposure causes delaminat...

After long time, got sold locally, hope it finds good use; 1500 Nok (~150 Euro), net for both, no extra fees or import tariffs, 70 Nok shipping. Re: C-mount - proprietary fit?
Hei, from photo in post #8, maybe the two screws can indeed be turned with a tiny and long Allen key, like 2mm or 1/16" ? Try different sizes.
That is common with collimation grains.
You could also turn them with a plier, from the tip (protect the thread and the glass with some paper or rubber)

Re: What designates an objective as fluorite?
For at least one year I thought that the Nikon's CF, " Chrome Free", were some new glass without Chrome, that is toxic. Seriously. This Fluor issue may also have some connection with toothpaste marketing... And what does it mean "Wide field"? I've seen it ranging from 12 to 30mm, since the 1920's....

Re: What designates an objective as fluorite?
I've read similar things also about the Nikon "Super Fluor": very large NA, not so plan, made with fluorite special glasses. So at least the sales departments all use the same concept. Is it coincidental that the main use of those high NA, narrow field objectives is.... fluor -escence? Lomo used to ...

Re: What designates an objective as fluorite?
I'd say that it is mostly cheating There is Fluorite crystal, like the one grown by Canon, and used in ancient true fluorite microscope objectives. (there were natural crystals found somewhere!) It isn't crazy expensive (at least for the little bit to make a microscope little lens) but a big hassle ...

Re: Is there a use for a 25x eyepiece?
I think in the past - before digital cameras - those eyepieces were useful, to clearly resolve the smallest details. With the 10x eyepiece, I can't really see what the objective is capable of. So higher mag eyepieces. Like, in amateur astronomy, people use routinely 6mm or even 3mm eyepiece; they wi...

Re: 60+ X dry. of what use are they?
Parenthesis, 2 late thoughts about original question, why those 60x 100x 250x dry - empty magnification is sometimes useful ; the eye or sensor are oversampling but that may help resolve the smallest details. I can see a little bit better tiny things with a 60x vs a 40x with same NA (or with a high ...

Same happens when closing down the condenser iris
The intensity theory of post #3 may have its grounds too as with strong illumination the eye is dazzled and can't see the faint specks

Re: Why are specs of dust on the front eye piece more apparent at 40x?
I vote for the effective aperture theory it is connected to the ratio NA / magnification High magnification and small NA, dust specks visible. Instead, with large effective aperture, things out of focus (nearby the intermediate image) are not visible because defocused. For 10x 0.25 0.25 / 10 = 0.025...

I've made some objective aperture funnels, to stop down the aperture. 3D printing, the design is customizable with OpenSCAD so to fit any different model of Yours estimated objective. Maybe this tool, it is a "tube expander"? Stretches the eyepiece tube from 23 to 30mm . 6646.gif . otherwise should be possible to right-click on the binocular head, select "Scale" , scale by 130%, press Enter. Done! Now you have an head for 30mm eyepieces. more seriously - if the eye tubes are thin...

I have the PLI 4 ; measured/estimate eye relief 23mm (distance to aperture) barrel height from tube 42.5 distance to cover full frame sensor: 128 mm +(23 + 42.5) = 193.5 mm distance to cover aps-c: 78mm + (23 + 42.5) = 143.5 mm This distance is like the 115mm in the drawing above, tube-to-image When...

Some time after, came up this ballpark estimate for the accuracy needed in the quartz plate Top and bottom plate must rotate and de-rotate by the same amount, within objective resolution. Let's say we are taking 4 MPx photos (2000x2000). The color rotates around the center; at the side, we are 1000 ...
