Throughout browsing numerous texts on micro-technique I can't help but see an abundance of use of glacial acetic acid. My country doesn't have a easily accessible source of this reagent. My question is can I the much weaker 5% or vinegar as substitute? Also are there any acids, easily accessible tha...

Re: Will my condenser mount fit a Lomo Aplanatic condenser?
Well i've found that my microscope accepts 37mm condenser mounts so the condenser can definitely be situated, my question are there other things now that'll prevent usage of the condenser? Like are condensers similar to infinity optics in that they are not compatible with other microscopes despite h...

Is there a distinction for isopropyl alcohol and ethanol as a fixative?
A while back I asked whether isopropyl alcohol can be used a fixative. The kind and humbled mrsonchus confirmed this. I also referred to Stainfiles but most sources said the isopropyl alcohol is used as a dehydrant. Sources also said that isopropyl is a poor fat solvent. Regardless though, for the g...

Re: A few pictures from this evening's Safranin trials
Yvan for the tissue preparation, you said that isopropyl alcohol should be used instead of ethyl alcohol for tissue processing. Does this apply to both the fixating and dehydrating processes? If so, is there a distinction between fixating with ethyl or isopropyl alcohol.

I have a question regarding the prices for the economic slides. Do I theoretically pay 9.80 for let's say 10 packages of the blank slides or do I pay 9.80 for every pack?

Actually the reason why I needed the extender is because I have to raise my stage so high up that it touches the spring loaded high mags objectives. This lowers the objectives so that the others would be fine.
