Re: My new Zeiss primostar 3
Similar dynamics occur in other industries; I was employed by a company that moved manufacturing from the U.S. to Korea, then China. Engineers were in the habit of walking from their offices and labs to better explain or correct their incomplete or wrong documentation on the manufacturing floor. A K...

Re: Searching Cree LED for tiny dimmers
expensive manufacturers seems to put more weight in the light spectrum. Low cost and efficient white LEDs indeed have problematic color rendition, with some being more nearly blue + yellow than red, green and blue. Sourcing more expensive LEDs with better color rendering helps mitigate chromatic ab...

Re: Searching Cree LED for tiny dimmers
This is pretty powerful, but I had some strange halo on my microscope. I think LED is the culprit, but maybe not. I bought another microscope with complete lighting meanwhile so stopped searching. Microscope collector lens for halogen bulb is designed for relatively small square filament; larger ar...

Re: Considering mounting alternatives for an Olympus BX 53 and Canon EOS Rebel SL3.
The Olympus BX 53 appears to use infinity objectives, with no corrections in oculars. If so, then an afocal setup over the photo port should work with no relay lens. For Canon APS-C, an EF-S 55-250mm zoom should work. Those are available used for less than US$100. Once a focal length which nicely fi...

Re: Metaphot direct projection with Nikon trinocular Tc
The finite Nikon heads (___ phot) I've had measure around 48.5 to 49mm+ at the largest dovetail diameter - even the old black stands. I'm pretty sure B's cleverly-modified Tc head is the same. Actually, Tc dovetail diameter is indeed about 51mm, but it seemingly lacks infinity space around prisms, ...

Nikon TC head will fit to E200? TC head has a dove-tail diameter of about 51mm According to Mike Tuell, Eclipse shares Labophot/Optiphot head dovetail diameter (49mm?) https://lavinia.as.arizona.edu/~mtuell/scopes/Eclipse.php Removing the bottom lens from a (more common) Labophot/Optiphot T or UW h...

I will take a look at that. It is has both constant voltage and current 10-turn pots; one comfortable with soldering could replace a 10-turn pot with a remote single turn control. I use one to supply a substantial supercapacitor bank, which takes several minutes to charge at about 4.5 amps, during ...

I replaced a missing Optiphot illumination diffuser with a very generic glass round of matching diameter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0041V9IX4 Note that it is described as "frosted", rather than "ground glass" or "diffuser", offering more search options. IMO, illumination diffusion is a relatively u...

You can get a 38mm od to m42 adapter and an m42 to canon ef-m adapter for even better results. RAF Camera makes high quality adapters and seems the only source for some microscope dovetails adapters. Today, I received less expensive M42-EOSM adapter from AliExpress that fits well. M42-EF.M.jpg

Re: Putting Led in place of original filament lamp in an Olympus SZ1145CHI
I'll try with such a G4 COB 3W LED with a 360° lighting in place of the previous halogen lamp (20W)! But I wonder if a classical dimmer for such low voltage Led could be efficient, as it also seems there is electronic items inside this LED.... My experience has been that, if LEDs are not advertised...

My Labophot has Variant 2, the most commonly seen tube arrangement. How do I convert to the setup with the short tube? I have never handled a Variant 2. Based on eBay images, it seemingly a) like variant 1, has no optic at the dovetail flange: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/YAAAAOSwxrNjkNEA/s-l1600...

I mostly use my cold light with an AO Cycloptic, at which magnifications and illumination field diameters such lenses are inapplicable. For higher magnifications, e.g...

The Swift 380T is a finite (160 tube length) microscope; except for Nikon since 1980 or so, most finite microscopes depend on eyepieces to help correct objective aberrations. I also own and recommend those WF10X/22 high eyepoint eyepieces, but they provide no corrections and thus work best for moder...
