For the record, I was able to double-check the halogen illuminator of the Olympus BH2 that I tested a couple of days ago. It is a 100W 12V lamp. No wonder it was SO bright, even for darkfield. Maybe it has been fitted as custom upgrade from an (original?) 20-30W lamp... I sincerely hope that it is ...

Thank You There is no doubt in my mind that the Olympus gives the 'cleaner' result but; on these first images, the differences are subtle, and many users would be very happy with that C...

Attached is the best image obtained so far, taken by my friend. Black bee wing. This one was likely taken using the midrange resolution option, which is the default. A few more observations: iPhone7 has too much delay and it was almost impossible to take good pictures. Newer Android - no delay. Tak...

The downgrade in resolution is real ... but not generally sufficient to prohibit their use in non-phase conditions.

With the stereo microscopes of this design I always imagine how it has to feel to be the subject being observed with the piercing inclined objective tubes pointed on me. :lol: :o These stereo microscopes with stage have their uses. I saw a beautiful example of this 'scope recently ... but failed to...
