Re: Upgrade Olympus BX40 Halogen to LED

For the record, I was able to double-check the halogen illuminator of the Olympus BH2 that I tested a couple of days ago. It is a 100W 12V lamp. No wonder it was SO bright, even for darkfield. Maybe it has been fitted as custom upgrade from an (original?) 20-30W lamp... I sincerely hope that it is ...

For those who may not previously have noticed the numbers to which Crater Eddie refers:

Qualitek lists objectives in 185mm, 195mm, and Infinity versions

This might be a dumb question but... The recent discussion of cheap Chinese objectives has me browsing the offerings again (my grandma always said that I was a glutton for punishment). Re: Help with condenser...

Is gumming up of the oil condensers fairly common? Is this a procedure that would be worthwhile being familiar with if I can on working with an oil condenser? Gumming-up of oil is a general problem on older microscopes, so any good advice is worth noting. In the case of condenser assemblies the pro...

Attached is the best image obtained so far, taken by my friend. Black bee wing. This one was likely taken using the midrange resolution option, which is the default.
