Re: Zeiss Axiomat for sale
What a beast! I'd buy it in a second but I'm still a beginner and wouldn't be able to handle something this magnificent.

Isolating and slowing down fast microbes?
I've been observing various pond life lately, occasionally recording my observations on my camera. One problem I frequently run into is that some microbes move so fast and are incredibly hard to image because of that. Other times the microbes are wound up in various pond debris that they can barely ...

I bought mine from Amazon since they offer free shipping to most countries. Unfortunately they're not shipping it to most places rig...

What are the practical differences between trinocular light split settings when imaging? (E.g. 100:0 / 20:80)
My general understanding is that for imaging a 100:0 / 0:100 light split option on a trinocular would be ideal for imaging because there would be no additional prism between the camera and objectives. I see there has been some discussions in other threads about this, but I'd like to know if there re...

Re: Comparison Images/Videos | $8 Phone Adapter | $110 NDPL Adapter | $450 NDPL Adapter
Thank you all for the thoughtful replies. After comparing both adapters I have decided to return the NDPL-1(2X). In my opinion, at $450 it is not worth the price when comparable adapters produce similar quality images as a much lower price. There was also dust in between the lenses on the one I orde...

I'm no expert, but it looks like it could be Closterium.

Re: Universal microscope adapters, ndpl1 vs ndpl2
Hi all. I have a few questions regarding universal camera adapters labeled as ndpl-1 (2x) & ndpl-2 (2x): 1) is this a general product with same labeling used by various manufacturers? I've seen a wide range in price for these adapters. 2) what is the difference between these two adapters? Would one...

Comparison Images/Videos | $8 Phone Adapter | $110 NDPL Adapter | $450 NDPL Adapter
Hi All, Wanted to share the results of an image comparison I did with several adapters with my AmScope T-490B , and at the same time I'd love to get some suggestions on how to further improve quality. I tested a total of three set ups, using a Canon M50 with the NDPL adapters, and a Samsung Galaxy S...

What microbe is this?
I typically use an identification chart to help me broadly find out what I'm looking at, but I had no luck with this one. They were found in a sample of store-bought soil mixed with fertilizer. I mixed it with water, dropped in a few grains of granola and waited about a week. A thick slime formed on...

Re: Specimen ethics
I know others are quick to point out that other threads exist on this subject, but I think your question on ethics is one that should be repeatedly asked. The very nature of science allows for us to build upon our collective knowledge, and potentially change our understanding of the world. If we don...

Re: 3D printing - AMScope / Canon adaptor, for Barlow telescope lens. (And many others)
That's really impressive! I have the same microscope and ended up buying the CA-CAN-SLR camera adapter from AmScope which turned out to be rather poor quality. I'm assuming you were looking at the same one, how did your images turn out with this setup?

Re: Mustard Seeds (First attempt at focus stacking - feedback appreciated!)
Looks very nice, the only thing I'd change would be the angle of lighting so we can see more surface details. Where is your light source situated? Thank you. The top of the seed was not illuminated enough which is why I wasn't able to get much detail on it. My light source was only from the base of...

Mustard Seeds (First attempt at focus stacking - feedback appreciated!)
Hi all, This is my first attempt at focus stacking. Took an image of mustard seeds at ~120x (I haven't got a way to measure the size yet). Microscope: AmScope T490B-DK Camera adapter: Amscope CA-CAN-SLR Camera: Canon EOS M50 I stacked 10 images using auto-blend in Photoshop, adjusted for contrast, b...

Hello from Hong Kong
Hi everyone! I've recently picked up microscopy as a hobby and got my first microscope around a month ago (AmScope T490B-DK). I've really enjoyed observing pond life specimens and hope to share some photos & videos once I've figured out what I'm doing. I'd like to give a big thanks to Oliver for his...
