Re: Agonizing over a BX60
Not sure what you mean by remove the cartridge. I am weary of breaking something in my complete ignorance here haha. Here's a head on photo at least. Sure seems to be a BF/DF lever though nothing changes when it's switched. So it's an empty cartridge. If you had an epi set up for reflectance. your ...

Re: Agonizing over a BX60
Hey, is that a brightfield/darkfield lever? I put a green arrow pointing to it. I hadn't noticed that. Attached is the picture you shared with an ebay listing shown in the upper right. So can you remove that cartridge and take a picture of what you actually have. Since the back top is blocked off, a...

Re: Agonizing over a BX60
Do note though, that the frame you pictured does not have an epi. The reflectance axis is empty on that frame. On ebay there is someone selling the insides for a BX60 epi, but I don't know that dealer or how hard it is to put in a reflectance axis, plus I don't think that includes the filter cube t...

Re: Agonizing over a BX60
As mentioned before, the U-CPA with 360 Pol, the U-TAD with DIM slider, the centering objective turret, the rotating stage all make that a great purchase for that price. Do note though, that the frame you pictured does not have an epi. The reflectance axis is empty on that frame. On ebay there is so...

Re: Olympus condenser for inverted microscopes (e.g. IX50)
For info on IX, you might also try the Facebook Olympus group.
But the working distance/NA is rather different. So the angle of the divergent Nomarski condenser prism light would be different and probably not match the other side. Have you tried it?

Re: Makeshift vibration isolation?
Here's a thread: https://www.microbehunter.com/microscopy-forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=11715 The rubber blocks are smelly from lots of plasticizers that can corrode metals. And didn't do much. The pinpoint stereo system vibration set-ups didn't seem to help either. There is the Veeco isolator shown he...

What is the SC versus the MET? I've seen METs, almost exclusively here in California. I found mention of one SC here: https://caeonline.com/buy/microscopes/l ... -sc/161662
Is it more motorized?

Re: Leica Reichert Polyvar 2 vs Polyvar SC
I'd be curious too.
It looks like the same cast frame parts. These are ebay listings that I'm referencing. The Met is missing the transmission axis, so the Polyvar 2 has more optics across the bottom in the base. Cool project:

On the plus side it looks to have HC optics and with an upper DIC carousel as well as a universal condenser with unknown contents. It would be useful to have close-up views of the objectives. A random guess is that this might have had phase Pete, I don't think any of the ones I have have the HC mar...

That's interesting, there is no tube lens switcher turret with different magnifications, pass-through, and Bertrand. For that trinocular, I've always seen a pass-through as a settable position.

Parts labeled and images of a normal trinocular head (trino) I think that side view is showing the space needed for a DIC turret. But I labeled it as I wasn't certain. There is a unit that can be installed there if you take off the objective turret and pull off a wedge hunk of metal -- pictures show...

The trinocular head shown is meant for a laser scanning confocal unit that hooks into the back. The trinocular head has a camera on it. I think the imaging device comes with the microscope. The camera is Firewire, but the trinocular head is long reaching almost to where the lamps are. At the end of...

This thread show the filter cubes and the two DIC's that are in the motorized objective turret. It's a pretty cool design with a solenoid powered compensator that pushes the DIC back and forth. Totally awesome.

MX80 For Sale
Hi, This was going to be a project of mine, but narrowing down to some other projects. This is an MX80 from a silicon wafer inspection system. It has laser focusing, two DIC prisms, an AX filter cube setup. See my other posts for details on those. There is a motored turret, in fact everything is mot...

and have it work? Pretty sure the answer is no but wanted to ask. Mark If you search ebay for rms to m27 you'll find adapter rings. Physical size of the bigger objectives and their working distance is probably the main limiting factor. Of course BD objectives will probably not get any light for the...

Re: MX80 Filter Cubes (and mysterious window)
So I found the DIC prisms. So I still don't know what the square window optic is. And the MX80 actually did have a transmission option. Didn't know that.] So in motorized nose turret, there are two DIC prisms, that a solenoid can adjust back and forth, like the manual DIC slider. They are for UM and...

MX80 Filter Cubes (and mysterious window)
So I had to open an MX80 to remove the six huge bolts at the bottom mounting it to a 30kg aluminum cast bridge that held it inside a Silicon Valley wafer inspection machine. My question is about the AX-like filter cube turret contained inside. One has an optic on the top. So it is above the illumina...

Re: BX stage on BH2 substage
So here's what I would think would work for bearing pads, highlighted in blue. You could cut the ring open and somehow get it to snap around, but gluing some bearing pads would probably be easiest design to test and implement the idea. I wish there was an easy way to do the reverse and mount a BH2 p...
