Mounting Medium for Mold?

#1 Post by DinoBoy » Sun May 23, 2021 9:32 am

Hello everyone! I found mold growing on some moss which seemed interesting and I decided that I wanted to make a permanent slide with the mold using mounting medium. I ,however, am not sure which mounting medium is suitable for preserving mold. I am just looking for a mounting medium that is used for making permanent slides and is suitable for mold. A mounting medium that also dyes the mold for easier observation would be a great bonus but not a must. Does anyone have any recommendations?Thank you for reading!

Lactophenol coupled with methylene blue (cotton blue) seems to be the classic mounting medium used in mycology. Not sure if it can be considered a permanent medium though. Here's a page with some info about it: Lactophenol Cotton Blue (LPCB) Staining
