Numb fingers and cleaning slips?

#1 Post by Dirtbug2012 » Sun Nov 14, 2021 8:04 pm

My fingers get numb very quickly when doing things that require a very fine touch. I can clean slides with no issues at all, but cleaning cover slips is a real challenge. The cost of tossing them is minimum, but I have mixed feelings about a "use and toss" policy. I have been using 2 slips per slide and usually 5 slides per sample, 1-5 samples per evaluation is considered normal. Does anyone else have issues like this, or am I just being fussy and over thinking this whole thing?

I would not worry about tossing the slip covers. It takes a lot of them to equal the glass in one light bulb let alone one pickle jar, and while glass can be recycled effectively it is also probably much less harmful ecologically than most things when it goes into landfill.
