I have been wanting a Crista Ampullarus slide of the ear. I can buy Organ of Corti reasonably cheap, but not Crista Amp...
I think I have figured out why. The organ of Corti is a ridge. Slice an inner ear almost anywhere and you will get an organ of court.
My research suggests that the Crista Ampullarus is a small hill like structure. If you are on either side you get nothing.
I pulled the trigger and ordered one from Wards (after buying a cheap one that as near as I could tell didn't have the structure at all). Wards wanted a pound of flesh and my first born.
Couldn't be happier.
This is with normal lighting:

This is how they packaged ONE slide. I don't think they do "freight damage":

Re: Expensive slide
Very nice. H-e works so well but sometimes you wish the anatomists would branch out a little? Anyway, looks like a primo section.

A Google search for Crista Ampullaris SEM, with the Images tab selected, returns some results that you might find interesting/helpful as you dig into the detail of that excellent slide.
