Hi all,
I have an old AO 820 rotary microtome with the original sample holder. Unfortunately that means that it is not big enough to accommodate modern standard cassettes. Does anyone know of somewhere that sells smaller than standard cassettes or some workaround without shelling out $250+ for a new holder that may or may not work with this microtome?
Thanks!
ILP
Cassette Sample holder?
Re: Cassette Sample holder?
Hi,
I use this holder: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2562841
It needed quite some optimisation after printing and can't quite compete with a metal version but it works well. I now use it on my KOSMOS student rotary microtome, tiny 6kg model.
The holder doesn't put the cassette under undue stress which is a good point.
Bob

Re: Cassette Sample holder?
Wow, this is neat! Thanks for the link! I'll have to see if I can convince my friend to print it for me.

.
This brief exchange reminded me that ‘sometime soon’ I should really get st least one of my microtomes working
Browsing around the web, I have have just found Tech One Biomedical LLC and thought I must share this little video:
.
Clever Lever Microtome Cassette Clamp Extender https://youtu.be/5sJmyx-eDOY
The product design actually looks very good, and genuinely useful
… but the ‘kitchen table engineering’ of the test-rig made me smile
Their channel looks worth exploring !
