Best way to polish out a black scope?

wondering what the best tried and true method of polishing up a black zeiss might be? Was thinking auto rubbing compound but......

I like renaissance wax but be very careful around the optics as it is difficult to remove.

If renaissance wax is too soft, you can also try polishing paste.
Certainly it helps to disassamebly footplate etc. Also you would remove the optics and close any openings carefully.

THanks I am using a metal cleaner and goof off, to get the nasty stuff off after a soap and water cleaning. I ordered some buffing compound for cars, and then I will finish it with renaissance wax. Will post the results here in a week or so.
