Designing an x-y platform !

#1 Post by Gasman » Wed Sep 22, 2021 1:20 pm

Hi guys
Starting to put together an idea for a 3d printed x-y platform to go with my new stereo scope. The top plate is 60mm x 60mm and just printed off the top part (Y), middle part (X) with a rack and pinion gear to superglue to the side. The base plate is next to be printed.

Cool! X y stages are really nice to have but often neglected on the stereos, so this should be a useful addition.

An X/Y stage is something I have thought about, but not expended any real effort beyond that. This will be an interesting project to watch.

What CAD/modelling system are you using?

‘DesignSpark Mechanical’ it’s a freebie for Windows and after trying Fusion 360, Freecad, Tinkercad and a few others it’s the best and easiest to learn I’ve found!.
