Im interested in putting together a (Lyot*?) filter, that is with 1/4 , 1/2 and full plate. They'll have to rotate of course, I just dont know how to go about tackling this project, and was wondering of anyone else had utilized one or owns one.

So yes, my plan is to use a set of filters in between the analyzer and polarizer ( linear polarizer) .

Condenser
Specimen
Objectives

In that order, the Diastar filter wheel allows me to permanently mount those filters wave plates on it, the polarizer would then have to moved from the bottom of the condenser to just after the rear lamp, which is no problem as long as is able to rotate on its axis, the same will have to be accomplished for the wave plates, as they'll have to rotate to various degrees in order to obtain the desired effects.
My current set up is similar to this one, keep in mind that the Diastar has a external lamp that can probably accommodate a polarizer...........well theres the heat issue probably melting the filter being that close.
I currently have the 1/4 wave plate sitting on top of the polarizer inside the condenser, the polarizer is able to be turned externally but the 1/4 plate is fixed in a position which gives the strongest birefringence effect.
Optimally the best solution would be to 3D print an extension/sleeve for the each objective with 3 slots where 18-20 mm filters can be inserted externally a d rotated by hand. The system would have to be infinite and the stage would have to have ample space to be adjusted in order to compensate for the added 5-10 mm to each 45 mm objective.
