Hey,
I thought someone might be interested in the write-up of my conversion of an Olympus CH2 (CHT) from the stock lamp to an LED with a driver.
I am new to Microscopy but somewhat experienced in DIY electronics stuff.
I used a warm white (3000K) Cree XML2 (3000mA rated) CRI 80 LED mounted on a heatsink and connected to an LM317T voltage regulator as an adjustable voltage source. I used the built-in dimmer dial attached to the scope's 680ohm potentiometer to limit the voltage to 3.08V maximum. It takes a 2.1mm DC barrel connector for power which is the standard for 12V supplies (I bet you your wifi router is using one) which work perfectly.
There are a bunch of pictures of the process which I have put on an imgur album here: https://imgur.com/a/QR57cHC
I can post them on this board if that is preferable -- there are a lot of them and I am not sure what the protocol is, so let me know.
Any suggestions and comments are welcome.
