Labofot 2 lamp house

#1 Post by Radazz » Wed Jun 03, 2020 6:16 pm

Has anyone with a 3D printer made a lamp house for a Nikon Labophot 2?
Hardest part to find for a restoration.

Thanks in advance,

I've made them out of square aluminum tube. Forget the size - maybe 2 1/2" ID. It's a near perfect fit. I saw off a piece and disk sand the ends smooth and square. Make a back cover out of aluminum with "ears" pop riveted on. Then paint inside and out with flat back auto trim paint. Forget the tab attachment I need to cut out, but the whole thing is sturdier and more heat resistant than the original, cheap once you buy some square tube, and takes maybe half an hour to make.

It's a pretty hot lamp to use a 3D printed thermoplastic IMO.

Most 3D prints will not survive high temperatures, and definitely not parts made on the machines typically owned by hobbyists. (Makerbot and the like)
