Any idea what this part of the flower is?
The purple flower was found in Mid Michigan Area. The Part I am looking at identifying is the clear tubular protrusions coming out of 2 pedals on either side, I have included some pictures below to show what I'm referring to.

Stamin? Are those very small particles pollen?
Re: Any idea what this part of the flower is?
That looks to be an orchid, if so the structure is a tad different than the typical flower. Sorry I dont know the name of the structure though.

Possibly it is Pollen. I messed around in the center of the flower and a bunch of stuff fell out. I took some pictures below, I think it is Pollen though. You will have to forgive me I am somewhat new to understanding Plants

That is definitely pollen! And the protrusions have to be the stamin. That is the male organ of the plant. The ovum is down the center of the flower. The bees will love you for having such a lovely flower.

The flower is indeed an orchid but don't ask me to name it. There are Way too many orchids for me to identify which one it is.

C'mon, there's only like 25 or 30 thousand species of orchid, shouldn't take too long to memorize them all.Greg Howald wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 4:05 amThe flower is indeed an orchid but don't ask me to name it. There are Way too many orchids for me to identify which one it is.

Hi, not even certain it's an orchid - have any parts of the flower's interior been broken away? The pollen is certain though. The protrusions look a lot like 'hairs' as they don't seem to have any elaborated structure to hold 'pollinia' - bundles of pollen as presented by orchids rather than discrete pollen-grains...
Just guessing here from the teeny bit of knowledge I have of plant structure - interesting to see a complete flower.

Hi, it's not an orchid, but a violet, it could be Viola odorata, due to the rounded sepals, it's the small green leaves in the first photo. One can see stigma, style and ovary and the stamens are removed. What you are asking about is a kind of hair, which is probably part of the pollination, to catch pollen on the bee.

Yes It's a violet, In fact a wood violet. If you are into plants and wanting to identify them this is a good website, also available as an app for Android and iOS.

They look like trichomes to me, with a purpose of course, but I think trichomes, non-glandular by the look of things....
