Help with Identity

#1 Post by Peter-J » Tue Mar 08, 2022 6:38 pm

I saw this in a sample from my local pond. Its something I’ve not seen before. Can anyone identify it. Looks a mean little critter.

It's a nauplius larva, and in particular a baby copepod. So it will grow up to be one of the fiercest predators for its size. :)

It is a mean little critter! A copepod will devour everything in your pond water. They will multiply like rabbits or microscopes and when it's all done, there will be one lonely and very fat bug left because he will have eaten all his brothers and cousins too. Reminds me of someone under some significant attention at the moment on the world scene.

Blimey. Glad he’s microscopic.
