ID help - pod like structures

#1 Post by krispenhartung » Mon May 30, 2022 5:23 pm

Any idea what this might be? I’ve seen them multiple times in my pond water samples. Magnification 400-800x.

They are Statoblasts! This is part of the life cycle of bryozoans, they are composed of a mass of cells from a colony. Bryozoans have a very interesting life cycle.
Nice image by the way.
