which Nassula is this

#1 Post by dtrinh » Mon Dec 19, 2022 3:38 pm

Hi everyone,
I guess this is a species of Nassula, but not sure which one.
Sometimes I see one look exactly like this but full of green algae inside. Would that be the same species?
Thanks!

It is not a nassulid, but something in the family Chilodonellidae (Trithigmostoma, Chilodonella, Pseudochilodonopsis, etc.). We'd need to see more detail to identify this to genus level (ciliature, distribution of contractile vacuoles, etc.).

Awsome, thank you very much! The photos and descriptions online seem to fit with the one I observed, at least at the family level :).
Bests,
