Anisonema with four flagella?

#1 Post by NachoBen » Thu Dec 29, 2022 9:48 am

This organism closely resembles the flagellate Anisonema (an euglenophyte, a close relative of Euglena).

However, you can see that it has four flagella, two short ones and two long ones. Is it an abnormal case? Is it an individual of Anisonema in bipartition? In any case, it is a very elegant microorganism!

Thank you very much for your help.

I suspect it's a biflagellate cell in division.
