Finally got a "wild" pond water sample from a retention pond here in N Fla (ambient temps 70's day - 37 overnight day before). Not near as much life as I expected but that is probably due to the temps(?).
I did find several (three different species) of what I believe are insect/beetle larvae. Any chance anyone knows what these are?

The two in the middle look like nauplii (larvae) of Cyclops. Here's the Wikipedia article. Scroll down for an image of the nauplius:

Agree, though I would say all four images are of a nauplius (larval stage of crustaceans).
So that would make it a good catch! The challenge now is to get a little closer. That would not only help with the ID, but they are also fascinating creatures in their own right.

Indeed they do. And as confirmation I got this image yesterday (ignore the scale bar I think I forgot to adjust the software). Had to add some Methylcellulose to get em to slow down and sit for the portrait.
