condenser insert set
Has anyone tried one of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/bauras/m.htm ... 7675.l2562 ?
I have always read these modifiers ought to sit near the diapragm, but in this contraption they are much lower. Isn't the position perhaps that important?

Re: condenser insert set
These are INSERTS into the condenser and close to the diaphragm. I’m pretty please with my set.

Olympus BH2 with standard Abbe condenser or Phase condenser.iconoclastica wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 12:24 pmWhat type of condenser are you using? On my 0.90 achromat the diaphragm resides c. 30mm above the bottom plate.
Re: condenser insert set
Nikon Achr 0.90 is not the best candidate to use with DF inserts, because of the internal design (I fixed your drawing a little bit). Internal "opening" (green) does not allow to go closer to the aperture .iconoclastica wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 10:11 am...

Of course, for the DIY purpose, opening could be widened, but it is kind a aggressive measure. It is doable, but not sure how many user are ready to make this kind of surgery on the own condenser. Abbe 1.25 are pretty cheap
Re: condenser insert set
I bought a set for an Olympus BH2 from the same guy and I'm quite happy.

Re: condenser insert set
That explains it. Also, I gather there are two different models of the achr 0.90 about, for my drawing was exact too (at least on the outside).Saul wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2020 2:42 amNikon Achr 0.90 is not the best candidate to use with DF inserts, because of the internal design (I fixed your drawing a little bit). I will look for another condenser for this purpose, that seems to be the best way to go indeed.
thanks,
Wim

Design is based on this model:iconoclastica wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2020 8:38 pm...I gather there are two different models of the achr 0.90 about, for my drawing was exact too (at least on the outside)...
Re: condenser insert set
Hmm, depth looks different (or just perspective ? ), mine is 14mm ....

Re: condenser insert set
It is real, not the perspective. Mine is between 7 and 7.5mm deep:
