Plastic cover slips?
Plastic cover slips?
Does anyone have opinions on plastic cover slips? After a glass cover slip fractured into splinters some of which got into my hand (I think I got them out successfully), I have been leery of glass cover slips. I did a search and found Raylabcon plastic cover slips on Amazon that I am now trying. They seem to work all right for observing pond life.

They are not ideal for DIC or polarized or fluorescence microscopy but think should be fine for other techniques. I look at some things up through the bottom of a plastic petri dish using phase and it seems fine. They are prone to scratching.

I have never used plastic. I wear surgical gloves when making slides. It seems to give a better grip on things and provide a slight amount of protection while avoiding finger prints.

I once had a batch of them off Ebay. Their transparancy was poor (milky). So at least he cheap ones I wouldn't recommend.
