Discard dyes

#1 Post by ivangallego24 » Sun Aug 22, 2021 12:58 am

I want to get rid of a dye kit that I bought a long time ago, but my question is where can I dispose of them safely, or if they can just go down the toilet

Hi Ivan,
good idea to think about this! Many stains are fairly critical substances and should be disposed of properly. When you google for "crystal violet" you get among other s the Wikipedia page:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crystal_violet
On the right under "Hazards" you can find pictograms that show what have at hand. In the case of Crystal Violet I would bring it in a well labeld container to the local communal waste disposal system. They will put it into a can wit hsimilar sustances and handle it properly. If this substance would be dumped somewhere maybe only to be burned later, the stain would wash out and go where it maybe shouldn't go.

What is it you want to get rid of?

Bob

Why not just give them away to somebody in your county who is willing to pay the shipping?
