Re: Thinking about 3d printer
I tried all of these new suggestions without success. Then I decided that if was old technology it would not read a long file name. I shortened the file name to only three letters. The darn thing is printing. I'll try again by shortening other file names.

You guys made it possible. I did find that the cura seems to like short file names and I ordered a new roll of pla because I've been printing all day. Hoorayy!!Hooray!!!

Wow.. that was fast. It took me more than 6 months to finish 1kg . Looks like you are having a blast.

I refreshed the printer, changed SD cards, and shortened the file names to three letters. I'll never know for sure what did it but the thing took off. I printed parts all day and will photograph them and begin assembly tomorrow for an extension tube for my Amscope T720Q. I'll then be able to make filters for analyzer. 1/4, 1/2,3/4 and 1.0 wavelength retardation. I'll post everything when I'm done. This is totally new to me and I'm not familiar enough with freecad to do it all in one piece, but when I'm done I'll start building the housing for episcopic lighting using a dichroic mirror.
I'm gonna have so much fun! Thanks for your help. As the cable guy would say, I'm happier than a tornado in a trailer park. . Greg

It's probably the file length, slicers output them with ling names but it has to be 14 or fewer iirc.

What fill rate do you use?

Greg, give tinkercad a try as well if you are new to freecad. I use tinkercad extensively as it is easy to use for me. I checked FreeCAD yesterday. Seems designed for advanced users ( I am yet to try a project so I might be wrong). I am planning to learn it but for simple project like patches, tinkercad might be easy to use.
