was to buy an air purifier. Basically a high grade HEPA filter with a fan that sucks in air and releases completely dust-free air back into your microscopy dedicated area. Not having to deal with dust getting on and in the microscope has been such an improvement and I highly recommend to anyone struggling with dust to get one of these.

Good point, Wes.
Re: One of the best microscopy-related investments I made
I have a box fan and a 20x20 furnace filter (high MERV) set up next to my microscopes for that purpose. Put the filter on the intake side of the fan and it sucks to it so all air that goes through the fan will go through the filter first.
The contraption is crazy cheap (and replacement filters and cheap and always available) and it purifies a LOT of air. I have it running on a timer, so I purify the air in that room for a few hours every day. I've though about running it 24/7, though. Keeps the dust way down in that room. Good for allergies, too.

Here's a little youtube demo: https://youtu.be/DmSKpmcE4eY. I love my box fan filters.
