Does anyone know what this is for? To be honest, when I bought it I didn't know what it was for but I found it interesting in case it was useful

Paraffin is used to to embed tissues in order to section them properly (microtome). It's a fairly involved procedure. A quick search for "paraffin embedding" will give you hours of scintillating reading. ;)
