Protozoology by Richard R Kudo

I would like to start buying a few books on identifying ciliates. I realise how hard this can be and I thought as well as the internet to have physical books will be a great help, Is the following a good book to buy.
Protozoology by Richard R Kudo, hardback, 5th edition (1977), 1188 pages.

I suspect it is used a lot as a reference. You can have a look at the 1954 revision on the Smithsonian site, turn the pages and all.

I have a copy of that book. Taxonomy has generally changed a lot, but it's still a fun book to leaf through. It will not be great as a key, if that's what you're looking for, but it is a trove of observations and full of drawings.

I've looked through the smithsonian one on line and I'm not sure, as you say it's out of date and it's not really what I'm looking for. I'm after an ID guide really with an up to date taxonomy.
