This was a very pleasant by-product of having a pond water jar. The jar provided a long lasting supply of mosquito larvae, rotifers, stentors, vorticellas and all kinds of ciliates. Yesterday, we noticed three big guys which we identified as newt larvae (approx. 3cm long, with visible gills and legs). The question is what should we do? Release them back to the pond asap or try to observe them for a while and release them later? In the latter case, how should we feed them and what other care practices are necessary?
Is it the case that either way we should never release them back for environmental reasons?
TIA
Newt larvae hatched in my pond water jar, what to do.

Sounds like you are already providing for them quite well
