I saw a chapter of Modern Family where two guys observed a meteor shower with a catadioptric with a very long focal length... with no eyepiece.

Somehow the Marvel movies do a pretty good job with prop microscopes the one that comes to mind is Peter Dinklage at this period Wild inverted scope:

A local news station did a bit on advanced medical tech a few nights ago. Seems a microscope picture is always needed to make things sciency?
In this case, they cut to an image of a cheap recent vintage Chinese scope of the type that retails for around $150. Apparently just the ticket for genetic research . . .

This tv series keeps on giving - he was of course not only seeing through the ice core but was also seeing movement within it.

Dr. Phlox's Inverted Microscope doesn't need objectives either -- and it can see DNA:
