Microbes at the Origin of Trying

#1 Post by DonSchaeffer » Mon Dec 12, 2022 5:34 pm

I see them every day now,
study them. I have no profession anymore.
I lose the world,
but I keep them in mind,
the very simple and the very pure
that the program has put here with me.
I chuckle at what they cannot do.
Their lives (if we can call it so)
are very short, consisting of a few
bursts of desperation. They persist,
merging selves on the edge of death.
Am I allowed to call it strife?

Don,
Here is a poem written now by the microbes to us-

Hey that light is bright !
I don't mind too much since my eyes aren't as good as yours.
Is that why you have to magnify me 100 times my size?
I seen your shadow hang over our pond just before the capture.

For 73 hundred thousand generations my descendants have lived there in that spot on the creek's bank.
Now I am going to die on a slide within a few hours.
Yet my mind is smaller than all these things and I am just nibbling on some algae.
I was hanging on to some debris for a while, now I am gonna take a swim about !

Well would have been harder to make it rhyming.

"I have no profession anymore", sounds like my situation now :))

That may be the saddest poem I've ever read. Now I'll feel badly every time I clean off a slide.

Macnmotion,

I do save them in a slight way.
If they are a super star specimen I take my spray bottle and spray the slide clean back to the water sample.
If they are not many or so so then I put the slide on the napkin on the table (with the dirty slide pile!)
and they will slowly die.

Okay I better not think now about it or it will get to me.
See when I change my birdbath water I use the hose with pressure spout adjustment and super spray the thing clean before refilling it.
Think of the murders!

In my defense then- In the bird community who the bird bath is for, I am a swell guy cause
I do not let the water go into stanky mode but clean and fill with nice clean water for them.
