Meeting a Child

I was a monster today.
The boy wouldn't look at me.
He hid his face when I appeared at lunch
and tried to run away
but couldn't get far. Was I
ready to consume him? Perhaps.

He had waited.
I wonder if I was
some kind of dream.
My body had alrady
begun to fade and for him
I already did,
small pieces of flesh grew faint.

Mystery creature
from another time.
I ducked quickly from the room
but frightened him especially
as I hid. The ghost
clung to me
and wouldn't release me.
