Pond Detritus Exploration

#1 Post by MicroMan2 » Tue Aug 11, 2020 7:59 pm

Here are some photomicrographs of pond detritus that I took:
Feet of a Microcrustacean: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AC ... authuser=0

Oblique-POL Microscopy of a Microcrustecean's Muscles: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AC ... authuser=0

Oblique Microscopy of a Rotifer: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AC ... authuser=0

Oblique Microscopy of a Water Flea: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AC ... authuser=0

Apologies for the inconvenience, but does anybody know how to move a forum to the proper category?

Cool photos MicroMan2-I love watching micro crustaceans also-water fleas really show their heritage with their lobster like back legs-and that giant bowel of theirs just keeps on pooping. Never thought of polarised light for micro crustaceans-looks really good.
I think Ostracods are my favourite. They look like empty pistachio shells with eyelashes... Keep it going MicroMan2

I like the feeling of texture in the photos.

Oh shoot, I forgot to mention those feet in the first one. see, now that is where one needs either good training or the courage of one's convictions because otherwise it would be easy to dismiss those as accidental marks or somesuch, which is the thinking that keeps worlds flat.
