I use a Nikon Labophot-2 phase contrast microscope with bright field and dark field capability. Equipped with trinocular head and Nikon phototube. All lenses are Nikon achromatic.

Re: Nikon Labophot-2
I believe you have a very good system. I am fortunate to see quite a variety microscopes and Nikon instruments are among my favorites (of course it's just an opinion). I think the Labophot and Labophot2 as well as the Olympus BH and BH2 are all excellent instruments and are great for the serious hobbyist. As my personal choice I like the later model Eclipse instruments because they have so much working room on the stage... because the objectives are quite large.

Re: Nikon Labophot-2
As a bacteriologist, I have always used many research quality phase contrast. The Nikon Eclipse came after the Labophot-2. I bought one for my bacteriological work which I used for 15 years. A great research tool. It was similarly equipped to my Labophot. I have also used Olympus, Wild/Leitz and Zeiss phase contrast microscopes. The Zeiss I used was in a league of its own!! Fantastic.

The image shows an early Alphaphot trinocular head?. Many Nikon parts are interchangeable and we'll thought out. Built to last and easy to service.
Relatively excellent value.

Re: Nikon Labophot-2
I don’t recall the details of the head. I had the microscope built by Nikon Instruments around 1995 for a previous employer. I bought it from them years later in almost new condition (I was the only user )
