Hi All,
This is my microscope. I bought it in 1984.
After many years in its wooden box, I rescued it.
In the last months I have improved it adding:
Circular stage
Darkfield condensor
Additional 20x objective
Binocular head with 7x and 10x eyepieces
3 apochromatic water immersion objectives (40x/0.85 60x/1.0 and 65x/1.1)
Phase contrast kit (condensor + 4 objectives)
This final microscope does a great job and performs good.
I have searched internet for the Lomo Khöler illuminator but all I 've found listed are too expensive and
may be better to spend money in a new microscope. I think.
Now, I am waiting for arriving an other microscope and I will destinate this Lomo to phase contrast and
some other things using its APO objectives.
My Lomo Biolam
Re: My Lomo Biolam
The original Lomo illuminators for that microscope are sold quite expensive.
I used a very inexpensive old Olympus illuminator. You just have to make a small adaptation. Glue a piece of plastic the same diameter as the hole in the Lomo.

Great idea Francisco,
Thanks for sharing.
Altought I am waiting for a new microscope I will search the net for an illuminator like this.
As I said, this microscope does a good job and It deserves better lighting.
The apo objectives (not shown in the picture) will work better and phase contrast
Kit will be usable.
Have a nice microscoping day !

Do you have a frosted glass diffuser under the condenser? It is needed with the basic illuminator. I have the original Lomo köhler illuminator. It is not bad, however I would spend my money for some other microscope of higher quality.

Re: My Lomo Biolam
You are right because spend too much money may have no sense once some lomo components are not cheap and
in whole We will spend several times the price of the microscope.
However, I will continue using my lomo for phase contrast once I find a good illuminator. The one I currently have
makes my Lomo phase contrast kit unusable.
I have bought an other microscope at a very good price ( for optics and value) and I received it just yesterday. No words. Optical quality is exceptional and it has great mechanical ergonomics. I will introduce it in this forum soon.
