My Three Scopes

#1 Post by Microworld Steve » Thu Oct 01, 2015 4:53 pm

Well, I finally got the time and took a few pictures of my microscopes. :D

The Swift I bought used around 35 or so years ago, and it still works great. :) I took off the oil 100X and put a 60X on it, the 100X oil is in the holder.
The OMAX I've had for about a month, and the AmScope for about two weeks now. I bought the 60X objective for my OMAX, and that's what's on it now, and the 100X oil is in the holder.

The Swift weighs a lot more than the other two combined. :)
If I can't see it with my microscope, it ain't worth looking at. :D

Excellent 'scopes, a nice mixture of old & new, and a complementary stereo make a fine trio! Very nice kit. :)

p.s. what's the bird's name and what type is it - a lorikeet or similar?

hmm - I don't think lories eat millet, not sure - anyway a beautiful bird also! :)

Thank you John. :) I have another scope coming, it'll be here Monday. The one I have coming is the AmScope B120C-E1 Siedentopf Binocular Compound Microscope, 40X-2500X Magnification, Brightfield, LED Illumination, Abbe Condenser, Double-Layer Mechanical Stage, Includes 1.3MP Camera and Software. :D

My bird is a male sun conure, and his name is Little Pustic. That's with a long 'u'. :D He will be 12 years old this November. :) I got him when he was still a baby and I hand fed him out.

Just a reminder that, with the Omax, after you set the eyetubes to your interpupillary distance, I think, if the eyepieces/eyetubes have calibrations corresponding to interpupillary distances, e.g. something like 55...74, you need to dial it on both eyetubes or eyepieces in order to get the correct tube length (important for objectives with NA > about 0.4). The new Amscope I think automatically adjusts tube length for the interpupillary distance.

I do know about adjusting the eyetubes and making sure the numbers match. As far as I can tell, the AmScope automatically adjusts tube length for the interpupillary distance, but the left tube does have a fine focus adjustment so you can get the focus the same on both eyepieces.
