My microscope...till tomorrow
My microscope...till tomorrow
I'm new to microscopy, other than 45 years ago in college. I'm right now using a newly purchased digital scope like the one attached, to examine and repair watches. Using it to example biological specimens got me more interested and am awaiting delivery of a trinocular scope which I will attach my mirrorless SLR to.

Diatoms in DF should be enough to hook anyone.
As an horologist my collection started with an original model Mantis, used for things like overcoil balance springs, great for PCB work which is it's intended application.
Fitted an old binocular type USSR 8.75x to the lathe for pivots mostly.
It went wrong with a Watson binocular that got broken in transit, had to get another...
Picked up a Watson microsystem with a rotating stage but low power BF.
Had to know if Nikon phase was worth the extra.
Then there's inverted phase and infinity.
It's a slippery slope.
10+ microscopes doesn't happen overnight but all too easy.
