DIY Slide Ringing

#1 Post by MitchW » Tue Dec 26, 2023 6:08 pm

Hello all,
Happy holidays to everyone.

Oliver sparked my imagination and creativity and I made a DIY slide ringing apparatus using old CD disks, a large bolt, large fender washer and some epoxy. Inserted into a hand drill it works pretty well.

Pity I cannot see the image to get a better idea of what you are describing.

I have used a round disposable food container cover the diameter of a slide, double sided tape in it, the center is marked by the plastic injection point. And I turned it with my left hand against my keyboard with a small box in front of it making a 90º corner. I ringed with the right hand using nail polish. It's so thick that i can't understand why a higher end solution would be useful if a more specialized coating is not used. There are more important problems with samples preparation.
If you want to make a wall for a square coverglass a ringing setup wouldn't even be useful anymore.
