Hello

I just got a wild m8 posted to me but the prisms are out of alignment as the scope has strong double vision

does anyone know how to align the prisms ?

and does anyone have a service manual for the wild m8 or any other wild microscopes that use the same head.

thanks

Depends what head is on there. If it's the simpler one they can sometimes be saved by opening them up, realigning the prism using the broken epoxy that previously held it like a puzzle piece and regluing.
Plus side this is easy and not insanely expensive to replace thanks to modularity. Compatibility includes heada from every member of the M series except the m5 and m4, so the Wild m1, m3, m7, m8, m10, plus all Leixa mz and m scopes. In addition there are Chinese clones made by motic with compatible heads, and Olympus szh and szx heads will also fit in a 'close enough' sort of way.

hi thanks a lot for the info inside it looks exactly like this

when looking at it the epoxy is not broken so maybe this is not the issue ?

Good, this is the simpler one.
Just to clarify, have you already opened it and examined the prisms? If not, you can try gently shaking it to see if a prism is rattling.
There are other failure modes, but this is by far the most common.

.
Sorry to hear that. As a matter of interest - how was it packed?

it was packed with its original canister secured with a scrap, with the little stage free to rattle around inside the canister and the also the bolts to secure the post to the body were loose, so quite badly packed

The glue on the head is not broken so maybe it's something else does anyone have A service manual or could recommend someone who would service it?

many thanks

One possibility is to inquire at a local university or institute as to who services their equipment. Perhaps even an in-house technician can help.

hello, I am new to the forum. I have just bought a Wild M3 and the images are a little displaced from one eye to the other. I think it is a problem of aligment. It also has a problem of parfocality. Has anyone the service manual to share? I think it is similar to the other Wild models. Thank you!

Is it a horizontal displacement? If so you just need to deal with the parfocality issue.

I recently acquired an M8 with similar misalignment issue. Thought it was prism problems but turned out the optics in the main body had frozen on the rails. A little oil fixed the stuck optics and the problem went away.
