Setting interpupillary distance in a Leitz SM-Lux

Hello there, it is my first post and already starts with a request for help. I just purchased a Leitz SM-Lux in good condition, seems to work really well but....When I try to set the interpupillary distance, only the left hand side tube moves to the left. The right tube will not move to the right. The distance I achieve seems just a touch too narrow.
My question is is there an easy way to rectify it? I have been considering removing some screws holding the front of the tube to see what may cause it. Maybe there is away to do it that I am not aware of. It is then that I thought maybe someone in the forum had a similar experience..
