Could someone help with a slide specimen?

#1 Post by Aprez0312 » Tue Apr 13, 2021 7:05 pm

Does anyone know if there are any bacteria in this slide? Or if the cells are normal? Thank you so much!

Looks like epithelial cells to me, bacteria are typically much, much smaller than animal or plant cells and unless using specialized tools, usually require staining to help differentiate them from the background.

To say something is "normal" necessitates knowing details of what it is, how it was prepared, and other factors.

Try closing your condenser iris way down and use your highest magnifying objective to see bacteria if there are any. It's probably not abnormal to find bacteria in the mouth. They are everywhere on the body. You will see them as tiny dash lines, corkscrews, or small circles. Very small compared to everything else.
