Replacing Eyepieces

#1 Post by Nreekay » Tue Jun 01, 2021 3:48 pm

Hey Folks,
I was wondering if one should automatically replace the eyepieces/oculars that your microscope came with? Usually when you buy a new telescope, that’s one of the first things you do... but what about with microscopes?
Thanks,

Generally no, eyepieces in microscopy are differwnt from telescope eyepieces. In some microscopes the eyepiece is an essential part od the optics, correcting for aberrations intentionally left in the objective design to make a fully corrected image. Even outside of that compatibility ia not universal and there are limited cases where an immediate upgrade would make any sense.

Thank you very much for clarifying this idea. Much appreciated, and you just helped save me some $$!
